POLICING NVQ LEVEL 3

This NVQ level 3 is intended to provide a national framework for police training at probationer and newly qualified level.

It is intended to be for all newly recruited officers and be completed within their two-year probationary period.

This award covers complex, high profile and general policing roles such as arrests and detention, interviewing suspects and presenting evidence at court or other hearings.

POLICING NVQ LEVEL 4

This level 4 is intended to provide a national framework for police training.

It is a direct progression from the level 3. It is intended for all police officers and will be taken during, or shortly after, the two-year probationary period.

This award covers complex, high profile and general policing roles such as communicating with the public and communities, conducting investigations, interviewing suspects and presenting evidence at court or other hearings.

NATIONAL CERTIFICATE IN DOOR SUPERVISION VRQ LEVEL 2

If you work as a door supervisor in England or Wales then you need to hold a Licence to Practice from the Security Industry Authority (SIA).

In order to obtain this licence candidates need to hold a qualification approved by the SIA. This qualification developed jointly with the BIIAB - approved by the SIA - will help candidates to obtain the licence.

CERTIFICATE FOR SECURITY GUARDS VRQ LEVEL 2

The role of the Security Guard is an ever evolving role with a corresponding increase in complexity and responsibility. The risk of criminal attack, terrorism or general emergency situations has placed an increasing demand on the security sector.

Personnel now need to be trained in a wide variety of disciplines to meet the current challenges. Security is important and it is vital that the industry invests in training to provide the right calibre of person with the professional knowledge to undertake their role in an effective and efficient manner.

Well trained personnel can have a positive effect on reducing loss through criminal activity or hazardous risks.

PROVIDING SECURITY SERVICES NVQ LEVEL 2

The role of the security officer is becoming ever more important and complex and the need for training ever more crucial.

This qualification is to help both the public and private sector officers develop their skills and prepare for the constant challenges they will face in their role. This NVQ gives recognition of candidates' skills, knowledge and understanding.

They allow candidates to gain a qualification in the workplace that relates to their job area and promotes good working practice.

The NVQ's are designed to be assessed in the workplace.

CERTIFICATE IN CONFLICT MANAGEMENT VRQ LEVEL 2

In many jobs, you could find yourself faced with customers or members of the public who become aggressive or even violent.

This qualification will help you to recognize when a situation is becoming confrontational and show you how to take steps to diffuse and calm the situation.

It is appropriate for anyone who may encounter such situations in the workplace, such as those working in the security, care, transport or education sectors.

The content of this qualification is linked to the knowledge and understanding requirements of the Security Industry Authority (SIA) specifications for Security Guarding and Providing Security Services.

The qualification also maps to the essential knowledge and understanding of units within the Managing Workplace Violence National Occupational Standards.

CERTIFICATE FOR DELIVERERS OF CONFLICT MANAGEMENT TRAINING LEVEL 3

Trainers who deliver Conflict Management training for qualifications for SIA Licensing will be required to hold an SIA endorsed and QCA accredited qualification in the delivery of scenario based Coflict Management. This qualification fulfils that criteria.

INVESTIGATIONS NVQ LEVEL 4

This award is suitable for investigators employed in the security industry.

This qualification covers investigating sources of information, developing intelligence for an investigation, arresting and detaining, planning surveillance operations, and investigating and evaluating incidents and complaints in the workplace.

INVESTIGATIONS NVQ LEVEL 3

This award is suitable for investigators employed in the security industry.

The qualification covers contributing towards the development of intelligence for an investigation, gathering information from suspects, participating in surveillance operations, investigating breaches in IT security and identifying and dealing with threat and areas of vulnerability.

COMMUNITY WARDEN OCCUPATIONS NVQ LEVEL 2

This qualification is designed for community wardens, neighbourhood wardens and street wardens and will allow the candidate to demonstrate the skills and knowledge required to do the job.

Areas covered in this qualification include supporting community needs; developing customer relationships and receiving and providing information within the community.

The NVQ's are designed to be assessed in the workplace.

NVQ CUSTODIAL CARE LEVEL 2 & 3

These NVQs are aimed at those working in the custodial care sector. They may apply from a range of court escort services and electronic tagging. The Level 2 qualification is aimed at those working in court escort and inter-prison transfer, police gaolers/dedicated detention officers, security staff in military corrections. Whilst the Level 3 is aimed at those working as residential prison officers and experienced staff in immigration detention and military corrections and other supervisory roles.

HEALTH & SOCIAL CARE NVQ LEVEL 2 & 3

These qualifications are designed for people who work with individuals to support and assist them with their physical or emotional care, daily living needs or maintaining their independence. The Level 2 qualification is aimed at home care assistants, community support assistants, healthcare assistants and residential or day service assistants. The Level 3 qualification is aimed at individuals who often work without direct supervision or on their own, perhaps in a user's home.

CERTIFICATE IN CLOSE PROTECTION - LEVEL 3

To operate within the interesting field of Close Protection it is important to prove you have the skills to undertake such a role. This qualification offers that and is SIA endorsed for Licencing to Practice purposes.

SPECTATOR SAFETY NVQ LEVEL 3

This qualification aims to assess the competence of senior stewards and supervisors at spectator events.

Candidates would be expected to demonstrate ability in preparing stewards and venues for spectator events, develop working relationships with colleagues and deal with spectator problems and emergencies.

SPECTATOR SAFETY NVQ LEVEL 2

This qualification aims to assess the competence of stewards.

Learners would be expected to demonstrate the ability to manage conflict, deal with crowd problems, expected to demonstrate ability in helping to accident and emergencies, and control the entry, exit and movement of spectators.

CERTIFICATE IN PREPARING TO TEACH IN THE LIFELONG LEARNING SECTOR LEVEL 3

The Award is an entry point and introduction for those new to teaching and training or those wishing to teach or train in the Lifelong Learning Sector.

It is the appropriate qualification for those seeking a 'stepping stone' to qualifications that entitle them to teach in either an 'Associate Teacher' or 'Full Teacher' role.

It confers with the newly required 'threshold license to teach' in the Further Education (FE) teaching sector.

ASSESSING CANDIDATES USING A RANGE OF METHODS (A1) Level 3 and ASSESSING CANDIDATES PERFORMANCE THROUGH OBSERVATION (A2) LEVEL 3

This suite of awards has been developed especially for those in a range of assessing roles.

You will learn how to assess candidates using a range of methods, through observation and to conduct internal quality assurance of the assessment process.

To enter, you must hold a qualification in the area you intend to assess.

There are two assessor awards available at level 3 - the Certificate in Assessing Candidates using a Range of Methods and the Certificate in Assessing Candidates' Performance through Observation (the latter focuses on observing learners in the workplace).

CERTICFICATE IN CONDUCTING INTERNAL QUALITY ASSURANCE OF THE ASSESSMENT PROCESS (V1) NVQ Level 4

This certificate is for verifiers and all those who ensure that that the quality requirements of external organisations, such as awarding bodies, are met.

The certificates are usually taken through a college or training provider. For all of them you need to provide evidence of knowledge gained under each of the units covered, and this can take the form of assessor observation reports, questioning or professional discussion.

CUSTOMER SERVICE NVQ LEVEL 2 AND 3

If you work in a customer facing role and want to boost your skills then this qualification is for you.

Level 2 focuses on problem solving, developing good customer service and supporting new improvements in customer service.

Level 3 covers implementation of new initiatives and team leadership.

CERTIFICATE IN CUSTOMER SERVICE LEVEL 2

This award is designed to contribute towards the knowledge & understanding for the Level 2 NVQ in Customer Service while containing additional skills & knowledge which go beyond National OccupationalStandards. It is also an excellent alternative to those who do not have access to the NVQ.

CERTIFICATE IN COMMUNITY SAFETY FOR ACCREDITED PERSONS VRQ LEVEL 2

Do you want to play an active role in keeping you and your local community safe and at the same time turn that into a career? If the answer is yes, then this might be just right for you. This new 'accredited persons' qualification is aimed at people who work or want to work in some of the following roles: community wardens; neighbourhood wardens; community support workers; parking attendants; park rangers etc.

The term "Accredited Person" is used to describe someone who is employed by an organisation (other than a police force) in a community safety role, who has been accredited by a Chief Police Officer - who may bestow them with limited police power. This qualification explores various areas including diversity and discrimination issues in the community.

In order to achieve the full qualification, you must complete the following four core units:

Roles and responsibilities of accredited persons
Solving problems and dealing with emergencies in the community
Crime and incident management in the community
Conflict management

Your career progression can be aided by completing a City & Guilds Community Wardens NVQ, which can also help you progress to various roles within the security and community sectors.

LEVEL 2 NVQ CONTROLLING PARKING AREAS

This award is designed for people working as parking attendants and will help them to prove that they are competent in their role.
